Because students should be nurtured and should have the opportunity to develop the full range of their strengths and talents, programs for the gifted and talented are an essential part of the curriculum of Tift County Schools. These programs, which enhance and extend the adopted curriculum, are intended both to encourage individual and group exploration in a variety of areas and to promote critical, creative, and practical application of knowledge.
Tift County Schools receives nominations for any students from teachers, parents, guardians, students, or peers for the Gifted and Talented Education program. To nominate a student, please complete the nomination form. Tift County Schools has three testing windows during the school year. Each school has an eligibility team that will review all nominations prior to each testing window. The eligibility team will review student data to determine if a formal evaluation for gifted services is needed. Gifted and talented services are based on eligibility. A nomination does not guarantee a formal evaluation. If the evidence confirms that the student is eligible for formal evaluation, the parents or guardians of the student will be notified by school personnel. No formal evaluation is completed without parent or guardian permission.
